2025 NJ Flute Intensive

with Guest Artist Maron Khoury

Join our 2 day flute intensive and take your musical journey to the next level! This class is designed with high school students, incoming college students, and adult enthusiasts in mind. However college students and advanced middle school students are welcome!

Each day will begin with comprehensive warm up sessions followed by themed mastery classes with each of the instructors.

Day 1 will conclude with a fun chamber music reading session for all to participate in!

On Day 2 we have the pleasure of being joined by Guest Artist Maron Khoury, who will lead a 2 hour mastery class (anyone who would like to perform for Mr. Khoury will need to submit a video recording—details below).

Following the Guest Artist Masterclass, there will be a faculty and student recital open to all.

Take this wonderful opportunity to gain confidence in your playing, make new friends, and improve your technique!

About Maron Khoury


Sarah Carrier is an award-winning flutist who has achieved recognition as a performer, educator, and more recently as a content creator. Praised by the New York Times for combining “thoughtful musicality with virtuosity in her alternately energetic and delicate account of a flute line laden with light multiphonics and unusual timbres,” she brings energy, emotion, and vigor to her performances while exploring the instrument’s sonic potential.

A versatile player, Sarah performs traditional classical, contemporary, and popular music in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. Over the last 15 years, her highly acclaimed chamber group, Parhelion Trio, has left an indelible mark in the world of flute, clarinet, and piano trio ensembles through high caliber performances and adventurous collaborations with leading composers. Together, they have performed around the globe, attended numerous residencies, and commissioned countless new works. Performance venues include: Carnegie Hall, National Sawdust, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Greene Space (WQXR), The Stone, Harpa Hall (Iceland), The Royal Danish Academy of Music, and many more.

A resident of Wayne, North Jersey, Sarah’s vibrant flute studio includes students of all ages, levels, and aspirations. Sarah holds a D.M.A. from The Graduate Center, CUNY, an M.M. from New York University, and a B.M. from California State University, Long Beach (Bob Cole Conservatory of Music). Previously, Sarah taught Postmodern Music and Music Appreciation at St. Joseph's University in Brooklyn. She currently serves as a Co-President of the New Jersey Flute Society. 

Flutist Yoon Jung Huh is a vibrant soloist, chamber player and educator. Dr. Huh has performed at numerous recitals and concerts including appearance at the Kennedy Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Seoul Arts Center, and Sejong Performing Arts Center. She has appeared as a concerto soloist in performances with Boston University Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Baroque Ensemble, and Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra.

She won top competition awards and honors throughout the United States, Europe and Asia including prizes in Alexander and Bouno International Flute Competition, Boston University Soloists’ Competition, Dong-A International Music Competition, Busan Concours sponsored by the MBC Broadcasting Company, and Daegu Music Association Concours, and VI Jurjānu Andrejs International Woodwind Competition.

Dr. Huh received her bachelor's degree from Seoul National University in flute performance, a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Graduate Performance Diploma degree at  the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts at Boston University in 2018.

Currently, Dr. Huh is a flutist of Flano Duo. She released her newest album 'Romance and Fantasy' recently and also second album ‘L' Après-Midi Romantique released’ available on music streaming services. Dr. Huh also taught at Rutgers Community Arts, Boston University. Also she currently is a Co- President of New Jersey Flute Society to contribute to the local musical society.

Stephanie Kertesz, celebrated for her commanding sound, vibrant energy, and graceful stage presence, is a flutist and educator based in northern New Jersey and the greater NYC area. Currently serving as the second flutist with the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Stephanie's performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player.

Stephanie was named a quarterfinalist twice in the prestigious National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and earned second prize in the Central Ohio Flute Association Young Artist Competition. She has attended such as the Chautauqua Music Festival and the Ohio Light Opera. Additionally, she has performed recitals across Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Jersey and her native Michigan.

Dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians, Stephanie has served as an educator at the Jackson Symphony Community Music School in Michigan and as a former associate instructor of flute at Indiana University. With a K-12 music education certification, she imparts her expertise to students of all ages and levels, fostering not only technical proficiency but also a deep love and appreciation for music.

Beyond teaching, Stephanie is passionate about contemporary repertoire, collaborating with her undergraduate new music ensemble and premiering works by composers such as Andrew Mead, Nancy Galbraith, and Erberk Eryilmaz. Additionally, she has performed in Indiana University's production of Mason Bates' acclaimed opera, "The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs."

Stephanie holds a Master's degree in flute performance from Indiana University, where she studied under the guidance of Thomas Robertello, and completed her undergraduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University with Alberto Almarza and Jeanne Baxtresser. She has also studied with Jeffery Zook, Bart Feller, and Sharon Sparrow.

Currently residing in Parsippany, New Jersey, with her husband, Stephanie continues to inspire audiences and students alike with her passion for music and unwavering commitment to artistic excellence.

Guest Artist, Maron Khoury

At age 20, virtuoso flutist Maron Anis Khoury became the youngest musician to join the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Born in the village of Tarshiha, Galilee, to a musical family, Khoury started playing the flute at the age of 11. Three years later, he was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia to study with renowned flutist Jeffrey Khaner.

Prior to his enrollment at Curtis, Khoury studied with Eyal Ein-Habar and Uri Shoham (Israel Philharmonic), Sara Andon (Idyllwild Arts Academy), and David Shostak (Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.)

Khoury is a recipient of several grants from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Charles M. Kanev Memorial Fellowship. In addition, he is a winner of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship and the Schoen Fellowship Grant in honor of Charlotte White. He performed under many notable conductors including James Levine, Riccardo Muti, Simon Rattle, Christoph Eschenbach and Daniel Barenboim.
